Building Employee and Manager Knowledge and Skills

The knowledge and skills to foster employee wellbeing aren't immediately intuitive, but they can be learned. Our trainings are succinct, highly engaging and learner focused, imparting a wide array of knowledge and skills to support employee wellbeing in the workplace. Participants leave trainings with solutions they can implement in the workplace.  Below is a listing of our current training products. 

Trauma Informed Workplace

 

Trauma has often been a taboo topic in workplaces, but its a part of the human experience. Trauma can impact the brain in a profound way, influencing employee behavior and performance. This training introduces participants to the topic of trauma in a workplace context and the pillars of a trauma informed workplace.  

Participants will:

  • Define trauma
  • Learn how trauma can impact the brain
  • Understand how trauma can show up in the workplace
  • Learn the 4 R's of a trauma informed workplace and accompanying strategies

Note: We also offer an HR specific version of this training focused on understanding trauma in the human resources field

Duration: 90-120 minute options

 

Stress and Decision Making

Employees today are working under increasing amounts of stress. Research shows that stress can have a detrimental impact on our brain’s function, particularly at the prefrontal cortex level. The prefrontal cortex has a variety of functions, but one key function is aiding us with decision making.

Participants will learn: 

  • The science between stress and decision making
  • Three common ways that stress impacts decisions, through active participant games and experiments
  • Key strategies for improved decision making under stress

Duration: 90 minutes

Wellbeing Before Work

Wellbeing Before Work is an interactive training that teaches employees how to recognize, interrupt and mitigate workplace stressors.

Participants will:

  • Take an individual wellbeing assessment
  • Learn the signs of distress
  • Learn the science of stress and performance
  • Learn 6 strategies to manage stress in the workplace

Duration: 90 minutes

 

Mental Health in the Workplace

Mental Health in the workplace focuses on building introductory knowledge and skills to support employee mental health in the workplace. We offer two versions of the training: 1) A general employee training focused on building a peer-to-peer mental health support network and 2) A manager and HR professional version, drilling down on key skills for managers. 

Participants will learn: 

  • The impact of mental illness stigma in the workplace
  • Basic facts and statistics about mental health, illness and distress
  • How signs of mental distress may present in the workplace
  • Proactive and reactive strategies to support mental health in the workplace

Understanding Psychological Safety 

Research shows that psychological safety impacts the following key workplace performance metrics in organizations: innovation, creativity, error reporting, learning, knowledge sharing, employee engagement and others. In order for teams to perform at their optimum level, psychological safety is a necessary component of the team dynamic.

Our Understanding Psychological Safety product consists of three parts:

  1. Pre-training survey to assess a psychological safety baseline for your organization or team
  2. All staff training on psychological safety
  3. Leadership coaching session

Managing for Wellbeing

Building Employee Wellbeing Management Confidence

 

Managing for Wellbeing is Wellbeing Works' signature comprehensive management training, focused on providing managers with the knowledge and skills to manage their employees in a way that supports their wellbeing. The training is composed of three facilitated 2-hour modules, an e-learning component and a post training group coaching session. 

Participants will:

  • Learn the impact of managers on employee wellbeing
  • Build emotional intelligence (EQ) skills to support employee wellbeing
  • Learn key management tools to support employee wellbeing
  • Learn how to support employee mental health in the workplace

Duration: Three 2-hour modules plus one 1-hour group coaching session = 7 hours total

 

Managing Upwards: Self-Advocacy in the Workplace

While often promoted as a professional development tool, managing upwards or self-advocacy is actually also an employee wellbeing strategy. A tool that employees can use to mitigate existing or potential workplace stressors by advocating for what they need in the workplace – to their managers and organization at large. However, this skill is rarely ever taught to employees.

Participants will learn: 

  • The link between managing upwards and wellbeing
  • The key factors that impact an employee’s capacity to effectively self-advocate
  • Key laws and internal policies, systems and tools that can be used for self-advocacy (customized to the organizational context)
  • Strategies for self-advocacy in the workplace
